Iodine recycling

So far only a few facilities in Europe have addressed this issue and have driven the recovery of Iodine forward.

In 2013, together with Häffner GmbH & Co. KG, we founded Rec53 GmbH (view certified waste management facility Rec53 now) and now operate an industrial-scale plant at the Marbach site, where we reclaim the element iodine.

Using various pre-treatment steps we are able to process almost any type of waste containing iodine. A comprehensive waste catalogue provides the proof.

Iodine and its salts are an essential trace element for humans and animals, but there are also various technical applications. Frequently there is residual waste in the preparation of products containing iodine such as in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, and this is processed in our recycling plant.

Apollo

We are part of APOLLO project!
APOLLO is an acronym for "A Proactive Approach to the Recovery and Recycling of Photovoltaic Modules". The APOLLO project is an European Union research project under Cluster 5, Climate, Energy and Mobility, funded by the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme. APOLLO will create a circular approach to link legacy recycling, future production and future recycling.
